Fireworks safety training - a comprehensive half-day course for public display organisers

Run by our trained technicians - covering everything from event planning and site layout to the law, first aid and fire safety

If you are organising a public fireworks display for a community bonfire night, a PTA event, a New Year celebration or a village fundraiser, this course gives you the knowledge, confidence and documentation to run it safely and correctly. It covers every aspect of consumer firework safety from initial event planning through to display procedures, legal requirements and emergency response - taught by Dynamic Fireworks' own experienced technicians who know the products you are using.

The course is a half day of classroom-based instruction followed by a practical fire extinguisher session and basic first aid training from an experienced paramedic. Places are available individually or as a discounted two-person booking - ideal for two committee members or co-organisers attending together. Customers spending £1,000 or more on fireworks receive a free place on the course.

Training day - your questions answered

Can't find the answer you're looking for? Contact our team - we're always happy to help.

There is no legal requirement for formal training to organise a consumer firework display in the UK. However, many event insurers now require evidence of training as a condition of providing public liability cover - particularly for community events open to the public. If your insurer requires a training certificate, contact us before booking to confirm this course meets their specific requirements. Beyond insurance, the course gives you the practical knowledge and confidence to run your display correctly and safely.

This course does not award a formal government qualification or BPA accreditation. It is a comprehensive practical training course run by our experienced technicians, covering all aspects of consumer display safety. Attendance can be documented for insurance purposes but it does not replace BPA firer qualifications for professional operators. It also does not entitle you to purchase Category 4 fireworks - those remain restricted to licensed professionals regardless of training attended.

The two person placement is a discounted booking for two attendees at the same course - ideal for two committee members, co-organisers or colleagues who both need the training. Both attendees receive the full course including the practical fire extinguisher session and first aid training. The discounted rate makes it significantly more cost-effective than two individual bookings. Contact our team for the current two person pricing and to check availability for the September course.

Customers who spend £1,000 or more on fireworks with us are entitled to a free single place on the training course, provided the order is paid in full by 31st August 2026. To claim your free place, contact our team after placing and paying for your order and we will arrange your course booking. The free place covers one person only - a second attendee can be added at the discounted two-person rate. Places are limited so we recommend booking as early as possible.

None at all. The course is designed for people who are completely new to organising firework displays as well as those who have run events before but want proper structured training. You do not need any previous firework experience. All trainees must be 18 years of age or older. If you have specific questions about your planned display - the site, the fireworks you intend to use, or particular safety concerns - bring them to the course and our technicians will address them directly.

Yes. One of the key advantages of training with Dynamic Fireworks is that the course is specifically tailored to the fireworks you purchase from us. Our technicians cover display procedures, firing instructions, setup and waterproofing in the context of the actual products in our range. You will leave with a thorough understanding of how to set up, sequence and fire the specific fireworks you plan to use - not just generic guidance that may not apply to your products. Bring your order details or product list to the course if you want product-specific advice.
