Gold sparklers

Three reasons: smoke, photography and comfort. Gold produces significantly less smoke than coloured sparklers, making a tunnel exit much more comfortable for guests standing close together. In photographs, the warm golden light is flattering and creates clean images without smoke haze. And for guests in formal or light-coloured clothing, gold is less likely to cause marking from smoke or fallout. For any wedding, gold 18 inch sparklers are the industry-standard recommendation and by far the most popular choice.

Burn time. 10 inch gold sparklers burn for 30 to 40 seconds - enough for a quick sparkle moment, a child's birthday party or a small group photo. 18 inch gold sparklers burn for 60 to 100 seconds - long enough for a wedding exit tunnel where all guests need to chain-light and still be burning when the couple walks through. For events with more than 120 guests, the 27 inch giant is the better choice as it burns for up to three minutes.

Buy one per guest plus 10 to 20 percent extra. For 80 guests, buy at least 96. For 100 guests, buy at least 120. Our bulk packs of 100 and 200 are the most cost-effective way to buy for weddings. Having a few extra costs very little and removes the anxiety of running short at the key moment - particularly important at a wedding where the moment cannot be repeated.

Gold sparklers are suitable for children aged 5 and over with direct adult supervision. Children under 5 should not handle sparklers of any type. The 10 inch size is a more practical choice for younger children - shorter, lighter and finished sooner. A useful tip: push the wire into a carrot before lighting to give children a thicker, more comfortable handle that keeps their hand further from the burning end.

For most weddings up to around 120 guests with a well-organised exit, 18 inch gold sparklers are sufficient. The 60 to 100 second burn time gives enough time for all guests to chain-light and the couple to walk the full tunnel. For larger weddings of 150 or more, a long exit walk, or any situation where you want complete peace of mind, 27 inch giant sparklers burning for up to three minutes remove any time pressure entirely.
