Accessories and extras - everything else you need for a great display

Portfires, safety equipment, wax torches and indoor fireworks

A great fireworks display is about more than the fireworks themselves. Portfires, safety goggles, gloves and launch tubes are the practical essentials that make firing safer and easier. Wax torches and indoor fireworks add atmosphere and variety to your event beyond the main display - and are often the details that guests remember most fondly.

This section brings together everything that does not fit neatly into a single firework category but is genuinely useful for anyone planning a display or celebration. Whether you need a pack of portfires to light your show safely or a case of wax torches for a torchlit procession, you will find it here.

Essential display kit

Portfires are slow-burning tapers specifically designed for lighting fireworks. They burn for around four minutes, are windproof and keep your hand well away from the fuse - far safer than a standard lighter or match. Every firer should have portfires. They are not included with most fireworks orders so check your pack contents and add them separately if needed.

Safety goggles, gloves and earplugs are equally important. Goggles protect against stray sparks, gloves protect your hands while handling fireworks and stakes, and earplugs are worth having for anyone particularly sensitive to noise during the display. Rocket launch tubes provide a safe, stable firing platform for rocket fireworks.

Atmosphere and celebration extras

Wax torches are ideal for torch-lit processions, Guy Fawkes walks and adding warm, flickering light to garden paths and outdoor gatherings. Each torch comes with a hand shield to protect against dripping wax. Available individually and in bulk cases for larger events.

Indoor fireworks packs bring the spectacle inside for birthdays, parties and festive celebrations - a great option when the weather or venue rules out an outdoor display entirely.

Safety kit - what every firer should have

Portfires, goggles and gloves are not optional extras - they are the minimum recommended safety kit for anyone lighting consumer fireworks. Portfires keep your hand at a safe distance from the fuse and do not blow out in wind like a lighter. Safety goggles protect your eyes from stray sparks. Gloves protect your hands while setting fireworks up and securing them to stakes.

Portfires are classified as outdoor fireworks and cannot be sent by standard post - they must be ordered alongside your fireworks order using our specialist delivery service. Please note that portfires, launch tubes, goggles and earplugs are not included with most fireworks orders - check your specific pack contents and purchase separately if needed.

A portfire is a slow-burning taper specifically designed for lighting fireworks. It burns for around four minutes with a strong, windproof flame that will not blow out at the critical moment of lighting, unlike a standard lighter or match. It also keeps your hand further from the fuse while lighting, reducing the risk of burns. Using a portfire is the recommended method for lighting consumer fireworks and is what all professional and experienced display operators use.

No. Portfires, safety goggles, gloves, earplugs and rocket launch tubes are not included with most fireworks orders - always check your specific pack contents and purchase separately if needed. Portfires are classified as outdoor fireworks and cannot be sent by standard post - they must be ordered at the same time as your fireworks to be delivered via our specialist courier service. We strongly recommend checking your order includes portfires to ensure you can light your display safely on the night.

Yes, provided they are specifically labelled for indoor use. Our indoor fireworks packs are Category F1 and formulated for use in enclosed spaces, producing minimal smoke and no hot fallout. They are not interchangeable with outdoor fireworks - never use outdoor fireworks indoors. Always follow the instructions on each product and ensure the room has reasonable ventilation. They are ideal for birthday parties, Christmas celebrations and any indoor event where outdoor fireworks are not practical.

Wax torches are handheld, slow-burning torches with a protective hand shield to guard against dripping wax. They are popular for Guy Fawkes torchlit processions, outdoor Bonfire Night walks, garden BBQ atmospherics and illuminating pathways and event spaces. Each torch burns for up to an hour. They are available individually and in bulk cases of 72 for events, schools and community groups that need them in volume.

Most rockets come with a supplied launch tube or stake. However, a purpose-made launch tube provides a more stable, secure firing platform that can be hammered firmly into the ground and angled correctly. For larger rockets or multiple rockets fired in sequence, a robust launch tube is worth having. Always check each rocket's instructions - some rockets specify that they must be fired from a tube rather than a stake in the ground.
