Low Noise Roman Candles - colourful aerial effects with minimal bang

Stars, comets and crackling effects reaching over 60 feet, with the sharp bangs of standard fireworks removed

Roman candles are naturally one of the quietest types of firework available. Their small bore size and paced, one-at-a-time firing pattern means they produce far less noise than cakes and barrages even in their standard form. Low noise Roman candles take this further, replacing any remaining report with soft whooshes and crackling as each star or comet travels skyward, so the sound you hear is almost entirely the effect itself rather than the launch.

The result is a firework that gives you genuine aerial colour and height to over 60 feet, with none of the sharp bangs that disturb pets, young children, neighbours and noise-sensitive guests. Available as single tubes and multi-tube candle batteries, our low noise Roman candle range is ideal for residential gardens, out-of-season celebrations and displays where keeping the noise down matters.

Why low noise Roman candles?

  • Roman candles are naturally quiet, making them ideal low noise performers
  • Full aerial colour and height without the loud reports of standard fireworks
  • Paced, one-at-a-time rhythm is less startling for pets and children
  • Suitable for residential gardens and built-up areas
  • Great for out-of-season displays where noise is a greater consideration
  • Can be angled for creative effects just like standard candles

Using low noise candles in your display

Low noise Roman candles work brilliantly as the aerial element of a quiet display, paired with low noise fountains for ground-level colour and low noise cakes for sustained sequences. Their paced rhythm makes them particularly effective between other fireworks, giving the display breathing room and a more elegant feel.

Place a row of candles and light them in sequence for a ripple of coloured stars across the sky, or angle them slightly outward to fan shots across a wider area. Single tubes are ideal as gap fillers, while candle batteries give you a sustained aerial sequence from a single ignition, all with the noise kept firmly in check.

Low noise Roman candle safety

Low noise Roman candles carry the same safety requirements as standard candles. They must never be held in the hand. All candles must be staked upright into the ground, placed in a bucket of sand or secured in a purpose-built holder before lighting. Ensure the tube is pointing directly skyward with nothing overhead, light the fuse at arm's length and retire immediately to the required safety distance.

Although low noise candles produce significantly less sound than standard fireworks, pets should still be kept indoors during any display with background music or TV to help mask residual sounds. Let neighbours know in advance, especially if they have animals, so they can take their own precautions. Most low noise Roman candles are Category F2 requiring a minimum of 8 metres - always check the product label.

Low noise Roman candles - your questions answered

Can't find the answer you're looking for? Contact our team - we're always happy to help.

Yes. Roman candles are naturally one of the quieter firework types, thanks to their small bore size and the paced, one-at-a-time firing pattern that produces far less noise than cakes or rockets. Low noise Roman candles take this further by removing the remaining reports and replacing them with soft whooshes and crackling, so the sound you hear is almost entirely the crackle and travel of the effect itself. They deliver full aerial colour and height with a genuinely reduced noise footprint.

Standard Roman candles may include some loud shot reports alongside the coloured star effects. Low noise candles are formulated to minimise or remove those reports entirely, focusing the effect on visual colour, glitter trails, comets and crackling rather than sound. The height, shot count and overall visual performance are not compromised, just the noise component. Browse our full Roman candles range to compare standard and low noise options.

Low noise Roman candles are among the most considerate aerial fireworks for displays near pets and young children, as they remove the sharp bangs that cause the most distress while still delivering colour and height. That said, pets should always be kept indoors during any firework display with background music or TV to help mask residual sound. The paced rhythm of a candle is also inherently less startling than the rapid-fire sequences of a cake or barrage.

Always keep pets indoors during any firework display.

Absolutely. Low noise Roman candles make an excellent aerial element in a fully quiet display. Pair them with low noise fountains for ground-level colour, low noise cakes and barrages for sustained aerial sequences, and a low noise display pack as an all-in-one starting point. A complete, visually impressive display is entirely achievable using only low noise fireworks from across our range.

Yes. Like all Roman candles, low noise candles can be angled slightly outward to spread shots across a wider area of sky rather than firing straight up, creating a soft fan of colour that works beautifully in quiet displays. Place several candles in a row and light them in sequence for a ripple of coloured stars across the sky, or angle pairs in opposite directions for a symmetrical spread. Always ensure the angled firing line is clear of spectators before lighting.
