1.3G fireworks - bigger bursts, louder breaks and more powerful effects

High-impact cakes, rockets and compounds delivering professional-style aerial effects for larger displays

1.3G fireworks are the most powerful consumer fireworks available to buy in the UK. Classified by their higher pyrotechnic composition, they generally produce bigger aerial bursts, louder reports and stronger visual impact than standard 1.4G fireworks, making them the preferred choice for customers who want to step up the scale and intensity of their display.

Our 1.3G range includes powerful cakes, large rockets, compounds and mines - all carefully selected for strong performance and visual impact. Whether you're building a complete high-impact display or looking for a handful of standout pieces to anchor your show, this collection has options for a range of spaces and budgets.

What makes 1.3G fireworks different?

  • Higher pyrotechnic composition than standard 1.4G fireworks
  • Bigger aerial bursts and wider sky coverage
  • Louder reports - more flash powder means a stronger bang
  • Stronger lift charges for greater height and spread
  • The same classification used in professional firework displays
  • Available as cakes, rockets, compounds and mines

Are 1.3G fireworks right for your display?

1.3G fireworks are best suited to customers with adequate outdoor space, most require a minimum safety distance of 25 metres, making them ideal for larger gardens, fields, open venues and organised events. They are legal to buy and use in the UK without a licence, provided you are aged 18 or over and use them responsibly outdoors.

If you want the loudest fireworks and the biggest aerial effects available to consumers without stepping into professional display territory, 1.3G is the classification to look for. Combine them with standard 1.4G fireworks for a varied display that builds pace and intensity.

1.3G firework safety and storage

1.3G fireworks must always be used outdoors in a suitable open space with enough overhead clearance and a clear safety distance of at least 25 metres between the firing point and spectators. Place all fireworks on flat, stable ground and follow the instructions on the product label carefully. Never attempt to relight a firework that has failed to fire.

For home storage, UK law allows consumers to keep up to 5kg NEC of 1.3G fireworks indefinitely for personal use, or up to 100kg for up to 5 days at the place of use. If you are storing a mix of 1.3G and 1.4G fireworks, the entire stock is treated under the stricter 1.3G storage rules. Always store fireworks in a cool, dry place away from heat sources and flammable materials.

1.3G is a UN hazard classification relating to the storage and transport of fireworks, this is not the same as the F2/F3 category rating. It indicates the firework contains a higher level of pyrotechnic composition, specifically flash powder, which gives it more explosive power than a standard 1.4G firework. In practice, 1.3G fireworks tend to produce bigger bursts, louder reports and stronger visual effects.

Yes, 1.3G fireworks are completely legal to buy and use in the UK without a licence, provided you are aged 18 or over. They must be used responsibly outdoors, following the safety instructions on the product. Storage rules are stricter than for 1.4G fireworks, so check our safety guide if you plan to store them before your display.

You must be aged 18 or over to purchase fireworks in the UK.

The main difference is in their explosive content and storage classification. 1.3G fireworks contain more flash powder, which typically produces bigger bursts and louder bangs. 1.4G fireworks use less flash powder or alternative compositions and are generally easier to store in larger quantities at home. Both can produce spectacular displays - 1.3G tends to be louder and more intense, while many 1.4G fireworks deliver equally impressive visual effects.

No licence is required to buy or use 1.3G fireworks as a consumer in the UK, as long as you are aged 18 or over. However, stricter storage rules apply compared to 1.4G fireworks. You can store up to 5kg NEC indefinitely for personal use, or up to 100kg for up to 5 days at the place of use. Storing more than this requires a licence.

Most 1.3G fireworks are Category F3 and require a minimum safety distance of 25 metres between the firing point and spectators. This makes them best suited to larger gardens, fields, open farmland and organised event venues. Always check the safety distance on the individual product label before buying as some 1.3G fireworks in pyromesh packaging may carry a shorter distance.
